Interchange Burange-Dudelange O.A. 1072 à DUDELANGE-BURANGE

Interchange Burange-Dudelange O.A. 1072 à DUDELANGE-BURANGE

Description

The improvements to the Dudelange/Burange interchange, located where the A13 motorway meets the N31 national road, form part of the development of the local road network in parallel with the extension of industrial districts and urban development areas along the Southern Distributor Road.
The construction of industrial districts to the north (Eurohub and CFL Multimodal hub) and to the south (Luxembourg National Healthcare Laboratory) is leading to increased traffic, with the result that the geometric layout of the interchange means it no longer meets safety and capacity requirements.
The improvements to the existing interchange have two main objectives.
One goal is to provide fast and easy access to the motorway for the industrial districts and urban development areas planned close by. Its other purpose is to increase capacity and improve safety on this extremely busy interchange.

OA 1072 – A bridge over the railway:
Covered trench, 80 m long and 16 m wide Reinforced concrete walls resting on ø 90 cm bored piles, joist-in-concrete deck. Complex series of construction steps, with the railway in use Laying of a cycle path (Lot 1)

Link road:
600 m-long carriageway linking the N31 and A13 to the CFL Multimodal hub (Lot 3).

Stages:

• Construction of the northern part of the new OA 1072
• Diversion of the A13 motorway onto the newly built northern part of OA 1072
• Construction of the link road (12 m-high retaining wall using geogrid and gabions) on the newly built northern part of OA 1072
• Demolition of the old OA 1072 in stages, following the discovery of asbestos in the bridge apron’s permanent formwork
• Sliding of the apron to the asbestos-removal area
• Construction of a temporary roundabout to replace exit 8 (Burange/Dudelange) from the A13 motorway and the entrance to CFL Multimodal
• Construction of the southern part of the new OA 1072 in the position of the old structure
• Restoration of the A13 motorway to the southern part of the newly built OA 1072
• Widening of the northern and southern A13 motorway
• Construction of the new exit slip road for the A13 motorway and completion of the link road to CFL Multimodal
