Royal Hamilius project bid à LUXEMBOURG-CENTRE

Royal Hamilius project bid à LUXEMBOURG-CENTRE

Description

 The City of Luxembourg is keen to rework and redevelop the “Royal Hamilius” site located in the heart of the capital. Launching the “Royal Hamilius” project meant that the City of Luxembourg had to come up with a development that:

  • is mixed-use, creating a multi-purpose block comprising shops, services, Horeca (hotels, restaurants and catering), offices and housing;
  • is attractive, enhancing the appeal of the city centre and gaining recognition at regional level;
  • boasts premium quality architecture and town planning which is in keeping with the local area, using a carefully planned sequence of buildings, public spaces, walkways and recreation areas, etc.;
  • improves the quality of the urban space;
  • embraces a well thought-out energy concept;

and which takes into account the issues of:

  • redesigning public transport links, i.e. moving them from Place Hamilius and Rue Aldringen to Boulevard Royal;
  • extending the city centre beyond Rue Aldringen as far as Boulevard Royal;
  • extending the pedestrianised zone in Rue Aldringen and in Grand-Rue and Avenue Monterey as far as Boulevard Royal.

The Félix Giorgetti group and its partners responded to this call for tenders with an impressive and highly functional development project subscribing to an extremely diverse commercial concept.

The architecture was designed by the kadawittfeldarchitektur and dagli+ firms.

Our project was awarded second place.
