Bouquet Celebration at the FM Science and Technology Centre Europe

After 300 days of intensive work on the structural work, the FM Science and Technology Centre Europe construction site celebrated this milestone with a topping-out ceremony attended by 260 people who had contributed to this major project.

Held on 25 June, the event began with a friendly get-together over drinks, before giving way to speeches from senior management. Marc Giorgetti, Loïc Le Dréau (Senior Vice President and EMEA Division Manager, FM) and Lyndon Broad (Executive Vice President, FM) took to the stage to express their gratitude, highlighting the commitment of the teams on the ground. This highlight of the day then concluded with a barbecue and a delicious buffet.

Marc Giorgetti was keen to emphasise the significance of this milestone: “The topping-out ceremony represents a symbolic stage in the life of a construction project. It marks the culmination of a particularly intense phase, and the transition to the technical work and finishing touches that will truly bring this building to life. We can be proud of the work accomplished so far and, above all, we are eager to continue this adventure.”

This project, the result of close collaboration between FM, Félix Giorgetti and Fabeck Architects, illustrates the success of a shared vision.

A vision focused on sustainability and performance

The centre was designed to meet requirements for safety, resilience and energy efficiency that exceed the usual standards.

As Loïc Le Dréau explained, the ambition was clear from the outset: “We wanted this project to embody FM’s DNA – in other words, for it to be safer, more resilient, more sustainable and more efficient.”

For Lyndon Broad, this project marks a major turning point: « The construction of this new Science and Technology Centre marks a new chapter for our company. You can see by the size of this investment that it demonstrates our commitment, for a long-term future here in Luxembourg, here in Europe, to our clients and to our business partners.».

The worksite in key figures

The foundations of a forward-looking project.

The construction site required meticulous organisation to meet the project’s requirements. The technical specifications for this structural work phase include, in particular:

  • 55,000 m³ of earthworks carried out.
  • 27,000 m³ of concrete and 3,750 tonnes of steel used.
  • 3,000 ml of foundation piles (150 units).
  • 12,300 m² of SikaProof membrane for waterproofing.
  • 10,600 m² of ground slabs and polished floor slabs, as well as 4,000 m² of steel troughs and composite slabs.
  • 4,600 m² of high-rise walls (> 13 m) and 1,900 m² of high-rise slabs (> 8 m).
  • 245 tonnes of steel framework.

Now it's time for the finishing works, which will bring this impressive building, covering more than 25,000 m², fully to life. Target: completion in 2027!
