GRIDX the odyssey of a visionary project

The GRIDX project was not just a construction project, but an adventure facing unprecedented challenges. From the pandemic to floods, the team demonstrated ingenuity and perseverance to bring this extraordinary space to life.

On Thursday, September 18, at 11 a.m., there was palpable excitement at GRIDX during the opening ceremony. Ministers, entrepreneurs, and guests were eager to learn more about this extraordinary project. Thirty minutes later, the doors of the impressive 1,360 m² Event Hall opened, inviting the crowd to take their seats. Paul and Marc then took the stage, followed by Félix and Alex. It wasn't just a presentation that was about to begin, but the story of a true construction epic, coupled with the promise of a new generation ready to carry on the company's legacy.

Unprecedented unforeseen events

Launched in 2019, the GRIDX project has been a real odyssey, marked by major challenges. Construction began in 2020, but was quickly put to the test: the COVID-19 pandemic initially brought work to a halt, slowing down the delivery of materials and leading to a reduction in staff numbers. Then, in 2021, severe flooding required months of cleanup and soil stabilization. In 2022, the war in Ukraine disrupted the supply of essential items such as PVC pipes, insulation, and manufacturing parts for facade frames.

Tribute to the women and men of the construction site

Beyond its size, GRIDX's true technical feat lies in its diversity. It brings together several distinct spaces under one roof, each meeting specific standards and criteria: parking lots, offices, a hotel, food halls, a gym, museums, and more. This complexity tested the expertise of Félix Giorgetti's teams and strengthened their tenacity, resulting in an outcome that matched their commitment. Paul recounted this story of perseverance: "We weathered some very heavy storms. Despite these challenges, our teams managed to keep the project going with determination. That's why I want to express my utmost pride in them: we owe this achievement to the women and men who built this project."

A significant social and economic impact

Marc then took the floor to enlighten the audience about the inspiration behind the project. While the concept of “Motorworld” was an initial source of creativity, the ambition has always been to adapt this idea to create a place where all generations can come together. “There will be something for everyone,” he emphasized, a promise of diversity that has been realized in the very design of GRIDX.

This project is intended to be a destination in its own right, positioning itself as Europe's first multi-experience hub, combining craftsmanship, gastronomy, shopping, wellness, corporate life, and digital art. Alex explained that the intention was to develop a place focused on emotions, experiences, discovery, and community.

Marc also highlighted the economic and social impact of GRIDX for the region: “200 jobs have already been created, not counting those that will be created by our tenants. One business drives another, and that's a great thing for Luxembourg.”

 Innovation and creativity

The Minister for Housing and Mobility, Claude Meisch, then took to the stage to praise the vision behind the project. He particularly emphasized GRIDX's disruptive approach: "Your approach demonstrates creativity and a true spirit of innovation. You have proven that in order to change our environment, we need to rethink established models."

The support of Minister Claude Meisch and the partnership with LuxTram, which will install a new stop in Wickrange, confirm the importance of this achievement for the country.

A collective success...

Marc expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to this project, including the design offices, subcontractors, tenants, and banks. He particularly highlighted the support of the local authorities: “Finally, thank you to the municipality, the mayor, and the municipal council for being there every step of the way.”

...and family-oriented!

With the work now complete, Paul and Marc, proud of their teams' achievements, are passing the torch to Alex, Célia, Félix, Maja, and Pola, their five successors. Félix said, “I would like to thank my uncle Paul and my father, Marc, for the trust they have placed in the new generation, and Roland Kuhn, who has been the driving force behind this project from the very beginning.”

Marc Giorgetti concluded:

“Thank you, young people! Paul and I feel very lucky to have all five of you as our successors.”
