€46,000 donated to charities

Now an unmissable event on the Luxembourg running calendar, the GioRun took place on 19 June. Once again this year, the race broke all records – whether in terms of entries, donations to charities… or the temperature!

On June 19, GioRun once again brought together runners, walkers and volunteers around a shared goal: combining sporting effort with charitable commitment. The race got underway after a group warm-up, cheered on by a large crowd gathered along the route. In total, 289 runners took on the 5 km course, 428 the 10 km, and 98 participants chose the 2 km solidarity walk, open to all, winding through the forests and fields of Leudelange

Families were also taken care of: Villa Pipoo looked after the children for the evening, offering free childcare and dedicated activities so parents could fully enjoy the event

A wave of solidarity

An evening of generosity in support of six local associations

Thanks to numerous sponsors, this year’s event raised 46,000 euros for six Luxembourgish charities, to support their projects and initiatives.

Chiens Guides d'Aveugles Luxembourg funds the training of guide dogs to assist blind and visually impaired people, and runs awareness-raising campaigns for the general public and in schools.

Fondation Autisme Luxembourg provides day-to-day support to people with autism and their families throughout their lives, through care facilities, educational activities and personalised support.

Fondation Maison de la Porte Ouverte supports people in vulnerable situations by offering them personalised support and listening services to promote their well-being and social integration.

L’Île aux Clowns brings joy and comfort to patients through its professional hospital clowns, who work in hospitals and care facilities alongside healthcare staff.

Parkinson Luxembourg offers people with Parkinson’s disease seven types of adapted activities: Nordic walking, boxing, gymnastics, weight training, dance, yoga and qi gong.

The 2026 podium

Once again this year, Yonas Kinde won the 10 km race in 34:29, followed by James Dunn in 34:51 and Ahmed Nasef in 35:15.

In the women’s race, Flora Castellani took first place in 47:39, ahead of Sophie Mosnier (49:07) and Manon Coller (49:15) .

It was a close finish on the podium for the 5.5 km race, with Videg Legesu (19:10), João Pedro Miranda Cepa (19:41) and Zaccaria Nasef (19:45). Toni Salomon (23:15) once again topped the rankings alongside Anastasia Lang (26:16) and Lara Weibel (26:19).

Runners, walkers, sponsors, volunteers, organisations and visitors: a big thank you to everyone for taking part and helping to make the 2026 event such a success.

See you on 18 June 2027 to celebrate sport and solidarity once again!
