Kick-off for the new NeiSchmelz district

Twenty-one years after it closed down, the former cold rolling mill site in Dudelange is set to be brought back to life.

On 25 June, the Fonds du Logement launched the construction works for the NeiSchmelz development plan (PAP). The event took place in the presence of Claude Meisch, Minister for Housing and Spatial Planning, Dan Biancalana, Member of Parliament and Mayor of Dudelange, as well as Diane Dupont and Jacques Vandivinit, respectively Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of the Fonds du Logement.

This new 32.5-hectare district will eventually be home to 1,575 dwellings housing a total of 3,600 residents. It will also include shops, public services, a primary school, nurseries and cultural spaces.

A colossal project which Félix Giorgetti is proud to be part of, alongside Karp-Kneip, carrying out the infrastructure works. This assignment involves preparing the ground for the future district: utility networks (dry networks, drinking water, sewerage, rainwater management and district heating) as well as roads, pavements, and public and green spaces.

Duration of the works: 5 years.

Our sincere thanks to the Fonds du Logement for placing its trust in us. We are honoured to take part in the regeneration of this piece of Luxembourg's heritage and to lay the foundations of this new place to live.
